Apple and Amazon allegedly collaborating to raise iPhone prices

Apple and Amazon are said to be working together to raise iPhone prices.

An antitrust lawsuit on Wednesday said Amazon removed third-party vendors selling new iPhone and iPad products from the platform, allowing only Apple’s official store to sell.

In 2018, Apple reached an agreement with Amazon and started selling iPhone and iPad models. Prior to this partnership, only third-party suppliers could sell Apple products.

According to the lawsuit, 593 of 600 iPhone and iPad sellers on Amazon were shut down so that only Apple itself started selling.

They agreed to raise prices

According to the lawsuit, Apple made an agreement with Amazon, becoming the sole seller and raising iPhone prices. Thus, shoppers from Amazon had to buy Apple’s high-priced products.

Lawyers are seeking the reimbursement of excess fees received from clients as a result of the lawsuit. Apple and Amazon have not made a statement on the subject for now.
